What's So Amazing About Grace?

A New Play by Neil Pugmire
Spectacular open Air Theatre Production at Buckfast Abbey
1st to 8th September 2010 (not Sunday) 19.45pm to 22.15pm

Based on the best-selling book by American Christian author Philip Yancey. The production will take place at the west front of the Abbey Church. Buckfast will be working with Unleashed Productions which is an ecumenical company made up of actors from various churches in the Torbay area.

Through scenes as varied as racism in the Deep South of America; Simon Wiesenthal’s experiences of the Holocaust; the Garden of Eden; an updated parable of the Prodigal Son and the loss of Gordon Wilson’s daughter in the IRA bombing of Enniskillen, this play explores the concept of forgiveness and grace.

This is a powerful play and it will be in turns shocking, humorous, frightening, moving and entertaining – but always thought provoking. The play asks how Christians can contend with threatening moral issues, but will be accessible to all of the audience regardless of whether they have a faith background or not.

This is going to be a very exciting and modern production which will use state of the art video projection and lighting effects. The accompanying musical score has been specially commissioned for the Buckfast production.
