Course Title: Understanding the asylum system

Date of Course: Monday, 13th September 2010

Time of Course: 10am-4pm

Venue of Course: Respect Suite, 2nd Floor, Prideaux Court, Palace Street, Plymouth, PL1 2AY

Objectives:
  • Increase awareness and understanding of the needs, experiences and aspirations of asylum seekers and refugees in the UK.
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
  • Challenge common misconceptions about asylum seekers and refugees
  • Understand the journey from being an asylum seeker to a refugee
  • Understand the asylum support system
Who is this Course for? Those who would like to increase their knowledge of the asylum support system and issues affecting asylum seekers and refugees.


Course Title: Accessing asylum support

Objectives:
  • Increase knowledge and understanding of types of asylum support and processes to follow.
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
  • Identify eligibility for support and evidence required to support an application
  • Apply for support under section 98, 95 and 4
  • Appeal refusal or discontinuation of support
Who is this Course for? Advice workers already familiar with the asylum support system who would like to extend their advice skills.
