Plymouth Faith Action Audit

Faith communities have always looked to make important contributions to the quality of life, social development and the needs of individuals.  This has recently been highlighted in Plymouth by the Faith Action Audit, organised by Churches Together in Plymouth and carried out by Plymouth University’s Social and Public Policy Research Group.  As plans for Big Society and the devolution of public services to private, voluntary and community groups develop, it is vital that faith communities are kept informed.

There is a great deal of information and advice available to assist churches and faith groups to play their part in the current changes and in providing and developing services for their local community.  In the current climate of cutbacks and mounting time pressures, it is important to know where to go for the latest information.  Plymouth Centre for Faiths & Cultural Diversity is at the forefront of gathering and receiving information.  We regularly receive useful updates from a range of voluntary, community and statutory organisations, which can be accessed via our website.

An important part of the Centre’s role is to support lines of communication between faith communities and other groups and organisations, so please do take a regular look at our website and also provide us with your information about any events which may interest others.

A major independent survey, looking at how faith-based initiatives contribute to the welfare of the city, has recently been carried out by the Social and Public Policy Research Group of Plymouth University. The results of the survey have been presented at a special launch event on November 5th at Plymouth City Council Chamber.
