Open Doors Community Courses

Open Doors International Language School is running a ten week course for people living in Plymouth who have English as a second language, especially those with children under five years old. The objective of the course is to help families know how to access quality information appropriate to their needs.

The course will include –
  • Staying healthy – the importance of exercise and healthy eating, making appointments, describing symptoms, visit from Health Visitor, keeping children happy and healthy
  • Staying safe – safety in the home, in the community and on the Internet
  • Enjoying and achieving – Finding out about places in Plymouth, progressing skills to access information about City Council and Internet safety, reducing parents’ isolation, increasing communication skills
  • Making a positive contribution – Discussions on living in the community, respect for one another, how to make a positive contribution, social cohesion
  • Achieving economic well being – Use of money, shopping, budgets, debt, bank accounts

The course will run from 11th January — 30th March 2011
Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9.30 – 11.30
at Salisbury Road Baptist Church
Crèche facilities will be available
