Interfaith Reflections

Join Us Thursdays 12:30 to 1:30 Term Time
Every Thursday from 12.30-1.30pm during school term-time a small group meet to reflect on topics from different faith perspectives. Recently there has been input from a group of Malaysian students, studying at Marjon and one of the Centre’s own faith speakers. The sessions are always varied and usually begin with about 10 mins input on some aspect or faith, social or community comment followed by a period of silence and then an open time of informal discussion and dialogue. The meetings are warm, friendly and respectful and are an excellent opportunity to take time out from a busy week to reflect on the important things of life.

Some of you will have met Sonja, a German language teacher, who was volunteering with us for a couple of months recently. Here’s how she described the meetings:

“For me, those lunchtimes with the reflection group were doubtless a highlight in my weekly routine. I met different, interesting people and could gain an insight into their life and belief. Amongst other things. we discussed today’s lack of communication among humans, as well as what kind of implications modern social platforms could have. The weekly reflection not only provided an opportunity to deal with religious or cultural issues but also proved to be a great place to meet people from different cultural backgrounds.”
