Born in Plymouth she qualified for her Performers Certificate at the Ealing Drama Studio in 1982. In 1991 gained her BA in Arts, Education and Social Science through the Open university and went on to earn her teaching certificate the following year. In 2001 she gained a diploma in Children's Evangelism and Nurture from Cliff College in York.
