PCFCD recruits and trains people from of all walks of life, who are able to discuss their faith/culture and the implications it has on their lifestyle, life choices and attitudes to the world and philosophy.
Speakers visit Primary and Secondary schools across Devon and Cornwall providing bespoke sessions and/or workshops in the classroom and in assemblies in accordance with each school’s requirements.
We have faith speakers covering many faiths:
Baha’i
Buddhism
Christianity
Hinduism
Humanism
Islam
Judaism
Quakerism
Sikhism
Unitarian
We also have cultural speakers from various backgrounds:
Africa
Australia
China
Japan
We are always eagerly looking for new cultural and faith speakers to deliver a new, diverse education to schools. The speakers will deliver unique sessions in schools’ RE (Religious education) classes.
We will offer structured training for the new speaker which involves up to three training sessions.
1: Learning About the Work of the Centre and the RE syllabus
2: Learning about Presentation skills and understanding classroom management.
3: Observation of a Faith Speaker in Action
All faith speakers are required to submit their details for a DBS as this is key to the Safeguarding process in schools.
If you are interested in becoming a Faith speaker or Cultural speaker, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please contact our Education Officer, Claire Linden by telephone 01752 254438 or email education@pcfcd.co.uk
We look forward to hearing from you!
