The purpose of ARROW is to develop, promote and research the arts as a resource for the non-violent transformation of conflict. ARROW was inspired by Desmond Tutu, who has given his personal backing to the programme, and draws in particular on the writings and practice of American conflict theorist John Paul Lederach, Paulo Freire and Bertolt Brecht.

ARROW has an emerging and dedicated global network of young people in the UK, the West Bank, Kosovo, Serbia, South Africa, Sierra Leone, India, and elsewhere who will meet during the week of 28th June 2010 for the Global ARROW Congress. They will share their creative practice, ideas and aspirations. The Symposium will be an opportunity for the co-ordinators of the groups to meet with other academics and practitioners in the UK and elsewhere to debate underlying issues and ideas. To book for the event, which is free please contact artsresearch@plymouth.ac.uk or for further information about the Symposium and ARROW please contact David Oddie, ARROW Director, at UCP Marjon (doddie@marjon.ac.uk).
